I'm Getting Old...

First off, I have the best husband in the whole, wide world! He spoils me and then says I deserve it(I'm not sure about that). However, he is absolutely adorable and I just love him to death. My birthday was this weekend and he surprised me with a night at a B&B in SLC. Well, he said it was partly for my birthday and partly to celebrate me getting a promotion. Remember how I'm a boss now?

We stayed at a place called Inn On The Hill and it was super quaint and cute. Our room was so nice(it had a fireplace, 'nuff said) and place was just cute and happy. Plus, the room smelled really good. Like, really good! I loved every second of it.

Our plans were to go see Shrek Forever After then go to dinner, but it was sold out at 2 different places. Weird, so we skipped the movie. We went to P.F. Chang's for dinner instead of Cheesecake for a change. And I am so not good at chopsticks. Jared kinda had the hang of it though.

I only did this for the sake of the picture.

We walked in the rain with our umbrella, which I feel is a super romantic thing to do.

After a little while we got hungry again and decided Baskin Robbins was a good decision. And it was!!!!!

After that we went on a little walk through a park. We were gonna go to Temple Spuare but it was kind of cold so we changed our minds. Could Jared be any cuter? I think not.

But the park was real nice, and a good place for some contemplating.

Needless to say, my birthday was amazing! Jared thinks he is not good at planning things like this but obviously he is. It might have been the best birthday ever...even though I'm 24 now and that is almost 25. That number kinda scares me.

Mom Turned 50!!!

Today was my mom's 50th birthday and we threw her a surprise party. We rented the pavillion at the Cache County Fair Grounds. My sisters (and our awesome husbands) spent the majority of the day getting things ready....I think it looked pretty cute. We were just glad we planned this inside because it poured rain ALL DAY! We had a lot of people show up and we are so glad they did, it made the party.

Here is some of our spread. Hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, salads, homeade root beer....mmmm.

We made up some story for Doug to tell her. He pretended they had dinner reservations and Jeremy just happened to call him with car trouble at the fair grounds. So as they pulled up we all hid in the corner and yelled, "SURPRISE!!!" when they walked in the door. She was actually pretty shocked to see everyone there. She said she knew something was going on but hadn't expected all this. It was awesome!

We made her wear her birthday crown while she opened presents. She was pretty excited about that.

Big thanks to everyone who came to the party. She loved it! And a big thanks to my sisters and their husbands for all their help with planning and help getting things ready. And, of course, Doug for all his help.

And mom, we love ya! You do so much for us all that it is the least we could do. I think I speak for my sisters as well when I say we are lucky to have you as our mom. We couldn't ask for anyone better. We hope you had a great day and that turning 50 wasn't as bad as you thought it would be.

Couple Things

I don't passionately dislike too many things in life.

However.... laundry is one of them.

Not just folding.

Not just washing it.

Not just putting it away.

I can't stand any of it! I know, I know, it's just Jared and I...what am I complaining about? I could only have to do laundry once a month and I would still dread it. It's just how it is. I would much rather clean toilets than fold a load of laundry. And I know when I have kids I am going to have to do it so much more often and yada yada, but that doesn't mean I can't complain now. So I'm complaining now!! I DON'T LIKE LAUNDRY!!! Also, today at work I interviewed a whole bunch of people. It was kinda fun. I enjoyed judging others and having it be ok, that is what interviews are all about. It's interesting to me that you really do get a feel for what kind of a person/worker they will be through that process. Speaking of the job, I really am enjoying it. I feel so grown-up. A funny thing to me is how different some people treat me. Apparently I am really good friends with a bunch of the kitchen people. Hmm...who knew? I'm getting mad respect nowadays! But I am really enjoying it and I actually understand what is going on. It's a lot of work but it makes me feel productive and important. It's pretty awesome.

Jazz Puddin'

Jared has to take a couple of classes this summer in order to be able to graduate next spring(it all goes along with USU's evil plan to take all of our money). Anywho, one of his classes had to be a DHA...something about the creative arts. Pretty much the only class he could take that didn't cost a billion dollars was Jazz History. Yep, you heard. Jared learning the history of Jazz music is a funny thing to me.

One of the requirements of the class is to go listen to a jazz concert and write a paper about it. So tonight we went to this weird Italian restaurant in Logan called Le Nonne. His teacher plays Jazz there every Wednesday night. It's this tiny establishment where people who like to drink wine and listen to Jazz music spend their time. So I'm thinking, 'welp, it looks quaint and fancy so the food will be good'. Hmm...I was wrong. The food was weird and so were all the people in the restaurant. They kept toasting their wine glasses. Not just once before they started eating, it was several times throughout the meal. I asked Jared if we should toast our Coke to fit in but he just rolled his eyes. Needless to say, it was a strange experience. One I felt worthy of blogging about. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of my face looking weirded out.

Picture Perfect

Last weekend my sister-in law, Amy, took some pics of us. I have been dying for her to take some but we had to wait for it to warm up. I have been so excited about these! I just keep looking at them over and over again....conceited?
Maybe...but they are just too fabulous.
First we went to an apple orchard in Perry, then after a quick outfit change, headed to Main St. in Brigham City.
I tried to keep the amount of pics I posted to a minimum but I was not successful.
