Sightseeing

Since Sunday is the only day Jared doesn't work that is the day we try to go see the sights and do something fun. This week we decided to go see the JFK Memorial in Dallas. This is the actual memorial. We walked right past it and didn't even know what it was and had to go back to see it. The guy who designed it said he wanted it to be like an "open tomb" for JFK. It is really cool and large as you can see.

This is a little story they had about the assassination of JFK. It tells you what buildings the shooters were located in and just a little about what time it happened and everything.

These are 2 of the buildings that shooters were located in during the assassination. The building on the left the shooter was on the 5th floor, I think. And the building on the right he was on the 2nd. I might be a floor or two off, my memory can't remember. There was actually 3 shooters and the 3rd was in a different building on another street.

This is the street he was driving down when he was shot. It is called Elm Street.

They have 2 of these X's on the road. The X's are exactly where JFK was when he was shot. I didn't get a good picture of the other X.

I don't remember what this is but it was cool.

This is the Old Red Museum. The JFK Museum is in here but it was closed when we got there so we didn't go in.

We also went into Fort Worth to a place called Fort Worth Water Gardens. We didn't even know what it was and just found it on the GPS and thought it looked fun so we went. They had like 4 different things to see. This was one of them. As you can see you can actually walk down in there. I was scared walking down because those little steps aren't very big and it was pretty steep.

This was another little place they had there. It was called The Quiet Pool. It was very peaceful down there and pretty.

This was the Auerated Pool. The water below the fountains was supposed to look solid like you could walk across it. Not very good from the picture but it did look that way.

RaIN DroPS KeEp fALLiNg On mY HeaD...

It is raining a ton since we got to Texas. The entire drive down here it rained. The day we arrived we thought the roof of Walmart was going to fall through because it was raining so hard. And almost everyday it seems there is rain, at least in the morning. In fact, last night the thunder and rain were so loud it woke us up and we couldn't go back to sleep until it slowed down. Crazy! Us Utah folk aren't used to it. I think it has rained more here in the last 2 weeks than it did all last year in Utah. But I'm not complaining because I know in a few weeks it will be so extremely hot we will be praying for rain. So...I tried to take some pics of the massive puddles in the parking lot. They aren't doing it justice but, oh well.

But things are going good. Jared is getting on track with the selling and we are really enjoying it here. Plus, the pool is amazing...we have gotten to know each other very well this past week and we are good friends. We hope everyone back home is doing well. We miss you.
And I found a cd that I had made like 2 summers ago and it is amazing! So you know what that means...NEW PLAYLIST! I shall call it, "Older but Gooder" But I will probably put some new stuff on there as well, Snow Patrol anyone? But then, I found me some Kris Allen for all the American Idol lovers out there. So...we got a little bit of everything. Do you love it?

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!!! I feel like a bad daughter not being able to be there but I hope you have a wonderful day. And I know your other 2 daughters aren't as cool as me but they are as good as you are going to get this year...ha ha j/k. Mom, you are the best and I can't even begin to thank you for everything you have done for me. A few years ago life was pretty scary and we were all each other had. Even though that was the hardest thing I have ever had to go through I'm thankful to have you there with me and that we had each other to make it through that difficult time. I'm so glad for our friendship that we built. I love you, mom and I think the world of you.



Also a special Happy Mother's Day wish to my sisters, sisters-in-law, my mother in law, Susan. We love you and Happy Mothers Day!!

Updating Time...

Hello everyone. As I promised here are some pictures from our road trip to Texas and some pictures of our apartment and what not. Mostly what you will see from the road trip are road signs saying what state we are in because that was pretty much the most exciting scenery...

When we were taking this picture a semi drove by and was blowing his horn at us. I guess he thought our pose was awesome.

This is Invesco Field where the Denver Broncos play in Denver. We stayed in Denver the first night and slept too late and missed the complimentary breakfast. So we found a Denny's and it turns out their stadium is literally across the street. It was pretty cool and we don't even like the Broncos.

Another funny thing is the GPS originally told us that we were going south through Colorado and then through a littly bit of Oklahoma before we got to Texas....so we are drivin' along, drivin' along and all the sudden we see this sign "Welcome To New Mexico!!!" What?!! Anyway, I guess the GPS decided we didn't need to see Oklahoma.

This is the old Cowboys stadium. They have already started tearing it down and we didn't know that.

And here is the moment you have all been waiting for....well, I know Jared was....the new Texas Stadium!! It is huge and I feel the pics are not doing it justice. Plus, all these were taken from the road because they aren't allowing people to get any closer until it opens on June 6.
Here are some pictures of our apartment. They are way way nice. Thank goodness. We are actually in a city called Grapevine and it's pretty big. I think the population is about 50,000. Plus, there are several other larger cities around us as well. We are about 20-25 minutes away from Dallas. I'm glad we are in a slightly smaller area. I don't like driving on freeways and they are everywhere here.

On Sunday we went into downtown Dallas to see what it's all about. Really big basically. One thing that I didn't know was how green it is here. And I love that there are trees everywhere you look. I was expecting Texas to be more desert-like but it's not. It is really pretty here.

As for an update with Jared and his selling it has been kind of a slow start. He hasn't sold any yet but we are staying optimistic. Everyone who has done this before has told us that the first week is always the hardest. You need to get that first sell and get your confidence up and then it gets a lot easier. So we are waiting for that first sell...I'm crossing my fingers that it comes today....

Hello everyone. Jared and I are here in Texas. We got here at about 11:30 on Saturday and are still getting used to the area and settled in. Our trip went well, long, but well. If anyone is planning on driving to Texas I would recommend not going through Wyoming and New Mexico, unless your favorite thing to look at for 20 hours is sage brush. But anyway, all is well here other than we miss everyone and have no internet or tv yet. I am using the computer in the management office for a quick update, I will post pictures and more details about our trip when we get internet.

Today was Jared's first day selling, well he is out right now. Hopefully he is having success and not hating it. I will keep you posted. Until next time.....
